Provides Silver Level Sponsorship to Lean & Hungry Theater
Leading
Government Contracting Firm Is the First Corporate Sponsor for
Washington, DC’s Only Radio Drama Company
Washington, DC (October 4, 2011)
Lean & Hungry Theater, DC’s only radio drama company, has
received a $10,000 donation from McLean, VA-based immixGroup. The
contribution makes the well-known federal contracting company a Silver
Level sponsor of the theater’s educational mission of bringing
the classics of literature to underserved communities – and the
first corporate sponsor for Lean & Hungry Theater.
The contribution comes to Lean & Hungry Theater through immixGroup
Foundation, which since 2007 has distributed more than $600,000 to a
variety of charitable causes.
Corporate sponsorship is an essential part of Lean & Hungry
Theater’s fundraising and growth strategy. The funds will be used
for capacity building and operating expenses.
Lean & Hungry Theater was created to make Shakespeare
understandable and accessible to underserved communities including the
visually impaired, the homebound, the elderly and students in urban and
rural areas. The DC public charter school system introduces Shakespeare
to students as early as fourth grade. Among fourth grade students
overall in DC, one in eight are English Language Learners, and one in
five are special needs students.
“This is a tremendous vote of confidence for Lean & Hungry
Theater from the Washington, DC area business community,” said
Lean & Hungry’s Managing Director Alex Zavistovich.
“Our operations have been largely bootstrapped since we began.
The backing of a company the caliber of immixGroup proves that our work
has genuine value to a broad audience demographic, and our mission has
the support of organizations that believe in giving back to the
community.”
“We’re hopeful for a long-lasting relationship with
immixGroup and other local, regional and national business
leaders,” Zavistovich added.
The next production of Lean & Hungry Theater is
“Hamlet,” scheduled to go live to air over WAMU-88.5, the
leading NPR affiliate in Washington DC at 6 PM on Sunday, October 30,
2011 – the evening before Halloween.
The productions and recordings of Lean & Hungry Theater productions are endorsed by the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.
